About the Team

Our U16 Girls team is an exciting and competitive team that is dedicated to promoting girls’ rugby and developing talented players. We are a close-knit group of athletes who value teamwork, respect, and hard work. The U16 season starts in mid-June, once the high school rugby season is finished. It runs until the end of August. In September we run a 4 week sevens season.

Full-Contact Rugby

Our U16 Girls team plays full-contact rugby, which means that our players will have the opportunity to learn how to tackle, ruck, and maul effectively. We prioritize player safety and have implemented strict protocols and guidelines to ensure that our players play in a safe and supportive environment.

Inclusivity for All Skill Levels

At Calgary Hornets Rugby, we believe that rugby is more than just a sport; it is a way of life. We emphasize the values of teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship on and off the field. We believe that these values are essential for your child’s personal and social development and will stay with them long after their rugby days are over.

Skill Development

Our coaching staff is committed to helping each player develop their skills and reach their full potential. We offer regular training sessions that focus on the fundamentals of rugby, including passing, catching, kicking, and tackling. We also offer advanced training sessions that focus on specialized skills such as lineouts, scrums, and breakdowns.

Competitive Play

Our U16 Girls team participates in competitive rugby leagues and tournaments throughout the season. We offer our players the opportunity to test their skills against other talented teams and develop a competitive spirit. We strive to instill a strong sense of teamwork and sportsmanship in all our players, both on and off the field.

Coaching and Support Staff

Our coaching and support staff are experienced and dedicated to helping our players reach their full potential. We focus on providing a positive and supportive environment for our players, where they can learn and grow as athletes and individuals.

Registration and Fees

To register for the Calgary Hornets U16 Girls Rugby Team, click on the "Register to Play" button at the top of this page. 2024 registration fees are $335.55, plus a website service fee. Our fees include access to all training sessions, games, and equipment needed to play. Financial assistance is available through KidSport Calgary for families who require it.
