The Calgary Hornets Women’s Competitive Team (AWP) is the top-tier team for women’s rugby in our club, and we are proud to be leaders in the Alberta Women’s Premiere rugby league. Our team is made up of skilled and dedicated athletes who are passionate about the sport and committed to performing at the highest level possible.
Our Women’s Division 2 Team is designed for players who want to take their rugby skills to the next level. Whether you are a beginner or have some experience playing rugby, our team provides an opportunity to improve your skills in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Women's Coach
Graeme Moffat
Please welcome Graeme Moffat. Graeme brings a deep history with the Hornets, having both played and coached within the club, and helped lead multiple provincial championship teams on both the men’s and women’s sides. His coaching résumé includes university, club, and national-level experience, and he was recognized as the 2024 Rugby 15s CanWest Coach of the Year. As the current Director of Rugby for Hornets RFC, Graeme brings leadership, experience, and a strong commitment to developing players and building winning programs.

Leah Conforti
Please welcome Leah Conforti. Leah has a long and respected history with the Hornets, first as a player with the club’s premiership side and later as a coach helping develop athletes across multiple levels of the women’s game. Her experience includes leading high school, provincial, and club programs, and she currently serves as an assistant coach with Dinos Women’s Rugby. Leah brings strong technical knowledge, a passion for athlete development, and a proud connection to the black and yellow.

Wiaan Griebenon
Please welcome Wiaan Griebenow. Wiaan brings an international playing and coaching background to the Hornets, with experience in Scotland, Poland, and South Africa-linked club rugby environments. A Polish champion and a seasoned outside centre, he has also coached youth 7s programs and club sides in both Europe and Calgary. Wiaan adds a competitive edge, global perspective, and a player-focused approach that will be a great asset to the Hornets coaching group.
